CBO says Cap and Trade to Cost $175 in 2020

In a recent report, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), looked at the societal costs of the Cap and Trade Program as part of House Bill HR 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES).

New Nukes in the Northwest

Energy Northwest, a consortium of power producers in Washington State want to build new nuclear facilities, but their past mistakes and the uncertainty of where they will store the waste are causing some people to pause. Grist interviewed Robert Alvarez, director of the Nuclear Policy Project at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. about the potential pitfalls of adding more nuclear power.

Although, nuclear power has seen its shares of mishaps in Chernobyl and Three Mile Island, both could have been avoided by better HUMAN processes.

 

One Small Step for Nuclear

A small hurdle towards a more nuclear future has just been removed in a current energy bill being written in the Senate. Under this bill, new nuclear generating capacity would be counted towards a state's renewable portfolio. Although I disagree with the renewable classification, I strongly support the increased use of nuclear power in the US and around the world.
