- Replace faucets with aerators and showerheads with low-flow models (=<2.5gpm)
- Newer toilets only need 1.6 gallons per flush but some older models use up to eight gallons. If you cannot replace your toilet with a more efficient model now, a low cost fix (if you have one of these old, high-volume toilets) is to use bricks or fill a one gallon sealable milk jug with water to displace some of that water in the tank.
